House centipedes are fast and freaky, but they eat all of the bugs you don’t want; roaches, bed bugs, spiders, silverfish, and even termites. They are mostly active at night and will be seen in dark, damp areas like the basement, garage, kitchen, and bathrooms. They can bite if messed with, but are not aggressive. Seeing them in a home may indicate other pest issues/food sources.

Millipedes may find their way inside homes after some heavy rain pushes them out of their habitat or in the fall when they begin to migrate for the season. Otherwise, they are content in damp areas outside like mulch beds and piles of dead leaves or grass clippings. They feed on decomposing organic material. 

They don’t bite, sting, or cause damage but can be quite unsightly when they move into homes in large groups.
