Stink Bugs are an overwintering pest that are most commonly seen in early fall when temperatures start to drop as they look for shelter, then again in the spring as they emerge to get back outside.
They can fly and leave a cilantro- or skunk-smelling odor as a defense mechanism, and they may even produce allergic reactions (rhinitis and/or conjunctivitis) in individuals who are sensitive to the bugs’ odor. They do not bite or spread diseases, but they can cause significant damage to crops in large numbers.
To help keep the activity at bay…
Once overwintering pests have entered a structure, insecticide applications will likely be much less effective. Most of the time these insects will keep themselves sheltered within wall voids, attics, crawlspaces, and other inaccessible areas which make eradicating the issue highly unlikely. The most effective time to treat and exclude for overwintering pests is in the spring & summer before they enter the structure.
To help prevent future stink bug issues, we offer ongoing protection plans. Our Silver and Gold Plans include continued monitoring and treatment to keep infestations under control. We’ll also share tips on maintaining an stink bug-free environment and keeping your pets safe.
